NMRA PCR Convention

Apr 9 2025

This is a Non RGS post, but thought folks may find this interesting. I’m a member of the NMRA Pacific Coast Region and at the end of March, the region had its yearly convention hosted by the Daylight Division. It was held at a nice hotel in San Luis Obispo and had the typical venue of a swap meet, clinics, open homes and some excursions. More details can be found at https://pcr2025.org

There were some really great clinics, one of the notable ones was making custom 3d printed figures. Something I’ll be working on at some point.

I thought I would share a few fun photos from the convention.

First up is in the convention hall, a group setup a Free-mo modular layout that hosted operations during the convention. Was a blast and a great way to introduce folks to operations.

Did an excursion to visit the Norgrove Railway. This is a 2 ft live steam operations that runs through vineyards and orchards. The Locomotives are being restored by craftsmen that are paying attention to every detail. Just outstanding work and fun to ride in the vineyards.

Also did an excursion to visit a 7.5" gauge railroad that had 1.2 miles of mainline. Great fun.

Hope you find this interesting! If you have not attended a NMRA regional convention, I do encourage you to give it a try. There were some amazing models in the contest room and learned a few great things from the clinics.
