A train buddy of mine suggested I capture my Placerville General store in black and white like the photo I used as reference. I did not get the angle quite right, still missing the flag and bike, but it’s a reasonable match. I can’t wait till I build Placerville!
Now that the section house is finished, time for the next structure.
For the next structure, I decide to see what I could do with my laser cutter and made the Tool Shed. From the best I could tell from photos, its roof changed over the years, and in the later years, it appears to be corrugated. So I went with that.
I laser cut 1/8" Birch plywood, and applied my formula for RGS paints. Borrowing the approach that Crystal River does for jigs, I cut an aid to help with window and door assembly. In my scrap bin, I found some leftover corrugated roofing. A bit of weathering and peeling paint and it’s ready for the layout. From start to finish, this was 2 days with a bunch of time at a 4th of July BBQ.
Another post will come quickly. Today I put up the backdrop of Dallas Divide. I’ll share that in the next post. But I’m off to build the coal bin now.
Enjoy!
